Personal Statement

My name is Julio Martinez & I am from San Antonio, TX. I graduate in the year 2018 and currently attend KIPP: University Prep High. I am a Senior in high school and I'm working very hard for my last season of club and high school ball. I know I will accomplish a lot!

I am a very quick, tactical,& technical attacking & defensive midfielder. However, I also can play the outside position & play up front.This allows me to have a better understanding of the game at each position.

I am very disciplined and put it all my effort in soccer & my academics. I have gained lots of high level experience at a young age. I have even played at the semi professional level for Genova FC San Antonio. I want to play in a college wherever I will be challenged & continue my experience as a player & student.

I've been described a strong leader on and off the field & I try to push everyone to do their best. In the future, I hope to attend and play for a college that will test me academically and on the soccer field. My hard work and love for the game will ultimately take me to the best college possible. To all the college coaches out there, if there's one important trait about me that you should know, it's that I overcome all adversity.

For the next two months( May, June of 2017) I will train and play for the semi professional team Genova FC in San Antonio. I was called up to play for the team after I went to the team tryouts on April 30th, 2017. During the tryout, I played and scored against a professional team that competes in the TPSL. THESE 2 MONTHS WERE ONLY A TRIAL. I WAS NOT AN OFFICIAL PLAYER ONLY A TRIAL PLAYER FOR MAY AND JUNE OF 2017. AT THE END OF THE TRIAL I WAS OFFERED A SPOT ON THE RESERVE TEAM BUT DECLINED THE OFFER TO INSTEAD PLAY FOR A ELITE YOUTH CLUB (Lions FC.) I WAS NOT COMPENSATED IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM FOR MY PARTICIPATION AS A TRIAL PLAYER.

Genova FC Pro Soccer Tryouts

Was a standout player ( Center-midfielder and forward) at the Genova FC tryouts. The try outs consisted of scrimmages against actual semi-pro teams in the Texas Premier Soccer League. I scored a goal playing as forward against a TPSL team. My Training

In addition to club and varsity high school soccer, I always train individually or with a group of friends. I do extra training to ensure that I'm prepared for new challenges and new opponents. The range of my training is extensive. One day I'll work on speed/agility and ball work and another day I'll work on endurance and strength.
