I have always played for an older age group in club soccer so I know what it is like to be more or less the "freshman" of the team. When I made varsity as a freshman not much had changed, but during my sophomore year playing 70-80 minutes a game I started to become a leader on the team despite my age. Now as a 15-year-old playing for the U19 premiere team for my club, I have also started to become more of a leader and not let my age affect my communication and role on the team. My goals for the collegiate level are to not only make the team and play but also to make connections with the older teammates so that I gain exposure to what it's like to be a captain and how to fulfill that role so that I can be named captain someday.
