Jason Hamant '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jason Hamant and I currently attend Glen Allen High School located in Glen Allen, VA. I have been a member of the Richmond Strikers travel club for 5 years and started on my high school soccer Varsity team in 9th grade.

I have always loved sports. For many years I played multiple sports including baseball, basketball, tennis, and of course soccer. At age 12 something changed for me and I decided to focus on soccer. I started with the Richmond Strikers Club as a U5 recreational player.  I have always enjoyed running and have found that the action of soccer along with the strategy of the game made soccer a perfect fit for me.  

During my time in the Strikers Recreational league a few of my friends and I entered the 3v3 tournament. We did well and ended up with an invitation to play at the ESPN complex as part of the Disney 3v3 tournament. It was a great experience! The recreational team had many talented players and we found that there really wasn’t challenging competition during the season. Our coach decided to begin entering our recreational team into Travel tournaments.  I continue to play as a guest player with this team but my main focus is with my travel team and high school soccer. 

My primary position has been right back which allows me to showcase my speed and decision making skills. I recently transitioned both in travel and high school soccer to the position of center back. 

I am excited to continue improving my skills by working with the coaches from my travel club, as a guest player with my original recreational team, indoor and sand soccer coaches, my new high school team, college summer camps, and upcoming college ID camps.
