My name is Tanner Gordon. Currently I am a Senior at Grayson County High School. I have been playing soccer for around 9 years. I am very passionate about this sport. I am looking to attend college to gain my business degree and then go on to get a degree in mechanics, all while playing my favorite sport. I would love to open up my own business one day near my hometown. My "Ultimate" goal, would be to play professionally.
I feel that I would make an ideal candidate for any team because of the drive I have. I practice everyday, even in the off season. I train with my team, alone, and even with a group of guys at the local park. I feel that I must keep a ball at my feet at all times. I want to improve as much as possible. I know that there is always more to learn and I strive to gain more knowledge in any way that I can. I feel the need to excel and learn everything I can so that I can be a better player and team mate.
Soccer has been my way of showing people I can still be in the game even though I have had to conquer some health challenges. At 13, I had to have my left kidney removed because of a benign tumor. Then at 14 I had brain surgery. My skill level started to decline, I noticed I could not connect with the ball, I was not running like I always had. There were small changes in my game. After I became sick and went to the ER and had an MRI, they found that I have Chiari Malformation 1. The tonsils of my brain had slid down into the top of my neck and I had to have surgery to fix it. I am doing great now. Actually, more than great. My skill level has soared and I am better than I ever was, even before my surgery. I have been cleared by all doctors to play and have no health issues anymore! Soccer is what keeps me going.
I stay on the honor roll, and I do not like to get bad grades. I study and I work hard in my classes to make sure I will succeed. I enjoy school and the challenges given to me by my teachers. During the summer, I work for my grandfather and his employer. I mow yards, I work on cars, and I also dispatch at a local trucking company 2nd shift. I work to save money to ensure I will have everything I need after I graduate college.
I hope that I will be able to show everyone my skills in the sport. I feel that I would be an asset to the team I am chosen for. I will play hard and work hard. I hope to get that chance and continue to play for many many years to come.
I thank you so much for considering me for your team. I look forward to hearing from you!
