Max Deisenhofer 2...Personal Statement
Although I am humble and am always striving to improve (I'm a perfectionist by nature), I believe I excel among my peers in every single aspect of the goalkeeping position. Besides having played club baseball and basketball, I've been playing soccer and practicing goalkeeping skills since I was three. I love and thrive on the pressure. Some of my strengths as a goalkeeper are my mental toughness/composure, high soccer I.Q., born leadership qualities, lack of fear, excellent distribution and ball handling skills, equal footedness, superior throwing ability and ultra-competitive nature. I'm also a great communicator who possesses an authoritative voice and presence. I'm the youngest keeper to have ever signed an amateur contract with the Portland Timbers T2 and have rostered 8 times. A dual citizen of the U.S and Germany, I've been coached by my German-born dad all my life, who was a ranked Bavarian tennis player and who later played baseball in Germany's first league. I have always been near the top of my class and push myself academically by taking honors and AP coursework. - I am the starter for the U18 team even though I am a U17 aged player.

- I have been training regularly at least once a week with T2 (and lately, also with the first MLS mens' team) and have rostered so far in eight T2 games. I am the youngest player in the history of the Portland Timbers to have been rostered (reserve keeper) for a T2 game, at age 15 and 3 months.

- In additional to goalkeeping, I played forward and center back positions until age 14. I was a member of this soccer club from age 7 until age 14 (August 2022), when I was selected to join the Portland Timbers U15 Academy full time.

- AwardsHonor roll recipient every reporting period. I was awarded 3 years of high school foreign language credit by scoring highly on the STAMP 4S test in German. I am conversationally fluent in German. I am on track to graduate early if I want to and have worked with a counselor to make sure that the classes I have taken are all NCAA eligible. I have not taken the SAT or ACT yet, but plan to take the PSAT in the fall of 2024.
