I am fortunate enough to have been raised with a classical, all-rounded education in which hard work and passion were viewed as prerequisites for success. My parents ingrained into me the philosophy that I should "Put my full heart into whatever I do, and the results will naturally follow". In this spirit, I took up various activities including acting, music, sports, and, of course, academics.
I won a state cup, qualified for the regional and national leagues in 2017, 2018, and 2019, scrimmaged with the U23 women's national team, and played in the Donosti Cup in Spain. Ever since 2017, I have also been selected into EPD (Washington state's equivalent of ODP) four times in a row (every time I've tried out). I moved in 2019 to PacNW which played more of a possession style. My main attributes as a soccer player are that I am very scrappy and quick, which makes me a lethal attacking player. With my left foot, I play on either wing, but prefer the right side so I can cut in and shoot, which is one of my strengths. A key part of my game is also my keen vision and high soccer IQ, which has allowed me to recently shift towards more of an attacking-midfield position. The key part of my game that I am currently trying to improve is my defense, as I understand the importance of maintaining a strong defensive shape as an entire team.
As for academics, I am currently finishing up my first semester of the second year of the IB program as a junior. I scored a 1480 on the SAT and a perfect 800 on the SAT Math II subject test. I have registered to take the ACT and the SAT physics subject tests soon.
One of my greatest strengths as a student is that I make connections between what I learn and what I love. This was demonstrated in one IB project where I made a soccer ball kicking machine for a physics experiment to investigate how a soccer ball’s size affects its curve. As a person previously diagnosed with epilepsy, I aspire to contribute to the field of neurology by studying electrical engineering in college, and then developing technology that helps to research and treat problems related to the brain.
My wide scope of interests, hobbies, and strengths are more extensively presented in my personal website: http://www.ishaansworld.com
Putting these all together, I am looking forward to a college experience in which I will be able to continue playing soccer as a passion and skill, as well as build a strong technical foundation that will allow me to help others in the future.
