Dear Coaches,
My name is Matt Ludlow and I‘m a senior in the class of 2023 at Gig Harbor High School. My goal is to further my education while continuing to play soccer in college. Growing up in a military family, I’ve had the opportunity to play on several soccer teams in Southern California and Washington State.
As a striker or outside mid, I play equally well with both right and left feet. One of my major strengths is creating scoring opportunities for my team.
I’m an unselfish teammate, very coachable and will do what it takes for us to succeed as a team.
I sustained an injury at the beginning of the MLS NEXT 2020-2021 season, so I do not have video highlights from that year. However, the time in physical therapy and on the sidelines made me want to play soccer even more and I was determined to come back stronger. Eight months later I played in the MLS NEXT showcase in Dallas (June 2021), proving to myself and my teammates that I was back- although not worthy of highlight film yet.
I‘m proud of how I persevered and will never take for granted being out on the field. Please contact my former MLS NEXT coach, Glenn Malone, for any questions on my comeback.
Our family moved to a different state two weeks after the showcase and I had to start over with a new club team, proving myself again. I’ve been called resilient, but I just love to compete and play soccer.
I led my high school team in goals this season, earning second team all-league honors, the Golden Boot Award and helped the team to state quarterfinals. I‘m looking forward to my final year with ECNL and would love to find a good fit for a college team.
