Luke Hammond '22 Recruiting Profile

"I called you up to Varsity because we need a calm leadership presence.  You are starting." This statement made by the Varsity coach when I was a freshman in high school shows the type of soccer player I am.  I am highly competitive and strive to be the best in my league. I seek out challenges where I can continue to grow, but at the end of the day, I realize it is a team effort.  Over the past several years, I have been the co-captain on my club team and my ODP team.  I've developed leadership skills that can calm anxious nerves of the team and motivate them to dig deep within themselves and believe in our team. We have gone on to win Championships!  I have earned the opportunity to represent my State in ODP and was selected to play on the ODP West regional team the last two years. My club coach and my ODP coach have told me that I play at a higher level than most and to be ready for the next level opportunity.  In February 2020 I was invited to train with the 03/04 Sounders Academy!  While I was not immediately offered a position on the team, I was extended an open invitation to continue to train and develop with the team.  Unfortunately soon after, Covid-19 shut down my State.  I am so thankful to be back on the pitch for league games and look forward to being able to travel again and demonstrate my talents at Showcases.  My goal is to play at a very high level in college where I can add value and make an impact but also learn from great coaches and talented teammates. Ultimately I would love to play professionally.
