I think I would be a good asset to any college soccer program not only on the field but off the field. On my own soccer team it has been said by many that "When Brandon talks others seem to follow suit," and that is partially the reason at the end of the season awards banquet I received the Coaches' Spirit Award for my leadership on and off the field. I also got nominated as captain for the upcoming season as a Junior. At the banquet I was informed that I also received a All-Conference nomination. I believe I will be a good leader off of the field because I not only take care of business on the field but in the class room. I currently am taking 4 advanced placement classes (history, calculus, literature and composition, and statistics) and will be doing that while trying to balance jazz band, some community service, winter running for track, and Project Saving Grace which donates money to a homeless shelter. My leadership before and during the season is second to none. This summer alone I was able to set up and run 3 captains practices (took a trip to Costa Rica for Spanish) and get the team into the weightroom on multiple occasions with our strength trainer. During the season, I plan on setting up multiple team meeting for after games to go to Buffalo Wild Wings as well as team meals. My coach has also named me the student representative for our team. This means I get to go and meet with our Athletic Director once a month to get details for us to give to our coach. My college aspirations are quite simple. My first goal is that the soccer team I play on make the NCAA or NAIA tournament. Another goal of mine would to be All-Conference and if possible have the team win a conference title. My academic goal would be to maintain a 3.5 gpa and become a high school math teacher and graduate with a masters degree with aspirations down the road of becoming a math professor.
I started playing soccer around the age of 4 and have learned a lot of valuable lessons as well as learned a lot of new thing. When I was 9 years old I began playing select in Seymour at a time where you had to be selected from the recreational league. I played there for 5 years before switching to the current club I am at now. Currently I play for Allouez Stampede. On these clubs I had made many memories as well as learned a lot of lessons. For example this past Spring, I pulled my hamstring running track and missed 10-12 weeks because of how high it was and because I tried to push my body to get back for track. This taught me how much I missed soccer and proved to me that I really did want to play college soccer. My high school team at the same time has taught me many lessons. It has taught me it's better to be a playmaker than to never pass the ball. It has also taught me how to be a leader and to lead with respect towards the younger kids and how to get the most out of them.
