Work Hard and Be Kind. This is my family's message at our front door and one that I do my best to follow each day I go to school, swim practice and in general. I am a swimmer from just north of the border in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I swim with Carl Simonson at the University of Calgary Swim Club (Go Dinos!).
While I am still trying to decide on what I want to take in school, I know that I have always wanted to swim with a division I NCAA team.
I am enrolled at William Aberhart high school in the French Immersion program. I am also taking Advanced Placement courses (AP). It is challenging but my grades currently show that I am handling it well, especially in Sciences and Maths.
What makes me stand out in the pool? I swim many events, but my best ones are the 400 IM, 200IM and the 200 fly. I can also swim most of the freestyle events, breaststroke, fly events along with the 200 back. Although I struggle with the 50s, I am able to make up for it in every other event. I am always looking for new ways to get better through technique and different race plans. Whatever the coach wants or needs me to do I will do it, I love a challenge and I love to race!
The Covid pandemic has changed things a lot in the pool. Our club was shut down from mid-March until mid-July last season. I maintained my fitness by doing daily Zoom sessions with my squad and doing a lot of running and biking. When we first began swimming again it was very different, we weren't allowed to have sanctioned competitions with other clubs around the city. We were forced to compete within our squad to get unofficial times as our only swim meets. Recently things have opened up and we've been able to have sanctioned competitions throughout the province. We've been able to race both long course and short course meters and have had the opportunity to throw down some pretty good times. Some other events that I've swum and put up some good times that I wasn't able to add in my key stats are as followed:
200 Breast SCM: 2:21.11
200 IM SCM: 2:05.90
200 IM LCM: 2:06.52
100 Fly LCM: 58.98
100 Breast LCM: 1:09.32
