My academic collegiate goals are to attend a university where I can study with a science based major and eventually go to graduate school. While I am interested in the field of forensic science, I am aware that through the remainder of my time in high school, those interests may evolve into something different. However, I know I would like to remain in the scientific field and possibly continue progressing in the Mandarin language. Although academics are very important, I also want to contribute to a competitive swim team and progress in the sport.
The team and my relationship with my teammates are important to my college experience. I want to be a part of a team that supports and encourages one another. I feel that I can contribute to the team because I am not afraid to have fun while taking my swims seriously. I try to make those around me laugh and feel comfortable. I believe we must love and enjoy the sport to reach our goals.
I have been on a competitive club swim team since I was 10 years old. Every swimmer experiences ups and downs with their swim goals. There have been times that I wasn’t sure I wanted to continue the sport, but I have always loved it and pushed through the hard times. I have come to find out what I was capable of and how to improve not only physically but mentally as well. I want to be a swimmer. I know I can be an asset to a team. I know I can do amazing and go somewhere in this sport.
I have managed my time between practices, maintaining a high GPA with honors and AP classes, working towards an Eagle Scout, and other activities. Between swimming and other activities, I have had the opportunity to be a leader, show initiative, and organize people towards an overall objective. I have also been working as a swim instructor for kids from the ages of 7 months old and up. I have to interact with a diverse group of people and learn to communicate with them and their parents. I love it. Through this job I have learned once again how important it is to be on time and be proud of the work I do. All of these experiences have given me the characteristics to be a part of an incredible team and hopefully, a good person in general.
