My name is Ethan Hon Giang or also known as Hon, and I am 17 years old. I am a senior at Alameda Science and Technology Institute but swim for Alameda High School. I started swimming when I was 5 years old and have always dreamed of swimming in college. I first started with recreational and moved on to club swimming when I was around 11 years old. With the pandemic, it was hard to find a pool that was consistently open and my team resorted to doing drylands and swimming in the bay. This led to my club team disbanding and I had to join another team. I like to push myself with others and I believe having a strong bond with my teammates and coaches is very important for improvement. I am not afraid to ask questions and I love watching the higher-level athletes as it gives me motivation. I have always been passionate about swimming and I want to test myself to see how far I can go. Knowing my limits and pushing beyond them is something I strive to do not just in the water, but also in my studies.
