I started swimming competitively at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center (RBAC) at the age of 12 while most of my TEAMmates had begun swimming since they were 10 or younger. Despite this, I charged up the ranks of my swim team to earn a spot in the National Group, the highest level at my club swim team, within three and a half years. I am the only swimmer in the National Group who has achieved this feat. Throughout my time at RBAC, I have learned to stand up whenever I fall, trust in the process, always give my 110%, and to enjoy the time I spend sweating in the pool with my TEAMmates.
In my Freshman year at Crescenta Valley High School, I was able to contribute valuable points by qualifying for the 200 IM finals at our school's championship-winning season for the California CIF Southern Division 3 Section Championship. As I look to explore options for swimming at the collegiate level, I hope to have an immediate impact on the program and contribute to the team as I have done so at my high school varsity swim team.
My love and passion for swimming also transpired me to become an assistant coach for the Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC) Swim Team where I was given the opportunity to teach and share the love and passion for swimming to members of my community with special needs. Even though our season was cut short due to COVID-19, the indelible experience I gained through coaching the SOSC swimmers will last me a lifetime. When SOSC swim teams resume practices, I will return to being an assistant coach again. I also enjoy volunteering as a Sunday School teacher at my church on Sundays after my early morning Sunday practices.
My previous assistant swim coach inspired me to explore the field of Sport Psychology where I could incorporate what I have learned as a student-athlete. My other fields of interest are Pre-Med, technology, and science.
With two NCSA cuts in 200 IM and 100 Fly and ten Sectionals in 100 Free, 200 Free, 500 Free, 1000 Free, 1650 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Fly, 200 Fly 200 IM, and 400 IM, I am a versatile swimmer who could be put in any situation a swim coach would need and contribute to my team. I want to continue to improve and reach more ambitious goals as a student-athlete at the collegiate level and beyond. I am certain that I want to take swimming as far as it can take me and put in the effort to work for my goals.
