My name is Riley Conklin I have been a competitive swimmer since I was 5. I started on the Richmond Sailfish and now I swim for Northbay Aquatics. I am a very dedicated and hard-working swimmer. I also am a team player. I want to see my team succeed and I encourage my teammates to do their best.
There are two things that I have always loved about swimming. The first is how much the team environment affects each swimmer. I have always loved making practice and swim meets fun as I feel like everybody swims better in a positive environment. It is also great to have an environment where you don’t get discouraged when you don’t have a great swim. For me, building a team environment is crucial to my swimming. The second thing I love about swimming is that you are always in your own head and you aren’t competing against anyone else. For me, this is beneficial because it gives me a chance to learn from my mistakes and constantly improve. I think this is one of my greatest qualities as a swimmer and why I want to continue swimming in college. I have shown consistent improvement in my times, and I’m still improving with every meet.
My goals through high school are to maintain good grades and continue to improve my time in swimming. In college, I want to excel in my academics and in my swimming.
I would be a good fit for your team because I work through the struggle and I will actively build the team environment. I have had a lot of leadership experience through swimming and other activities. I will bring leadership, a positive environment, and a consistently improving swimmer to your team.
