Growing up in San Diego, California, it was always important to my mother and father that I learn to swim and so I did. And, I was good at it. Early on however, it didn't occur to me or them, that swimming might be something I would one day want to do in College. Then, about 10 years ago, I brought home a flyer from school advertising the Heartland Swim Team summer league. My mom signed me up, and my road to becoming a Swimmer Athlete began. Over the years of practices and competitions, I have come to recognize myself has a very competitive person, with that competitive nature being focused mostly on myself. I always strive to do better than before and rely on my coaches and teammates to help me get there. Also, as one of the only high school swimmers at my high school that also does club swim, I have taken on a leadership role to help encourage my peers who are just beginning their life as a swimmer.
I have always been quite successful academically. I am currently ranked in the 97 percentile in my graduating class and have set high standards for myself to continue being so. In college, it is my desire that my academic success continues with a focus on one day obtaining a Master's Degree or higher in the field of History and/or Science.
Besides swimming, I also compete on my high schools academic league team and have done so since my freshman year. In addition, as a hobby, I enjoy playing the clarinet, an activity that I have been doing since I was in the 4th grade.
Lastly, with my swimming ability and my high GPA, I see a path to being able to continue to compete at the collegiate level, as well as, earn a degree that will allow me to become a productive adult in today's society.
