I am a 6’3” butterfly specialist from Oakland California, I will turn eighteen in the summer of 2021. I began swimming competitively in 2017 on the Terrapins Swim Team and in three short years rose to the highest training group on my club team, Senior Elite, under Ray Mitchell. I was on the cusp of a major breakthrough going into my junior year, as I achieved sectional cuts in both my 100 and 200 fly early in the season. I also have two years of experience swimming on a varsity level. I was entering my third varsity season, in which I was on track for NCS and possibly State Championships, until it was cancelled due to COVID-19.
I am a very hard worker and dedicated swimmer, despite this setback I am eager at the prospect of swimming in college. Although I have not been able to swim for two months, I have greatly taken advantage of this period using it to condition both my mind and body, through intense cross training, conditioning, and perfect attendance to my swim zoom meetings. During a quarantine competition in which my team competed to earn points for exercise, hydration, nutrition, and technique practice, I finished in second place.
I believe that my hard work ethic and proven ability to rapidly progress in the sport will make me a valuable asset on any college swim team. Ideally, I would like to be at a division one school in which I will receive the personalized and intense training necessary for me to unlock my full potential as a swimmer. Also it must have strong business and law programs. Despite my starting swimming later than most, I have a goal to to be a competitor in the 2024 or 2025 Olympic trials. Based on my strong work ethic and my unusual ability to drop large amounts of time in the pool, I am confident I will be able to achieve this goal with the proper training. This goal in addition to my desire to bring honor to my God and family are what motivate me as a swimmer.
