John "Jack" Stein '20 Recruiting Profile

Hi! My name is Jack Stein and I will be a senior at Daniel Hand High School in Madison, CT this coming swim season. I have been swimming for ten years.  For most of those years I did not enjoy swimming and didn’t put in much effort to get better. I consistently put in 50% effort at practice and expected to see significant improvement at meets. Despite having an extremely successful freshman year, I still didn’t love swimming. In the fall of my sophomore year, I broke my leg in a skiing accident. It was during my recovery when I realized how much swimming means to me both from a mental and physical point of view.  Because of this realization, I worked super hard and got back in the water a mere two weeks after my accident.  Even though I didn’t meet all of my goals that season, I was proud of myself for making it back in the water so quickly. Since then I have put in 100% in every practice and I am committed to swimming in college. I am willing to put in the work to see improvement now more than ever. My goal is to find a school that is strong academically and will allow me to swim in a competitive environment.
