Swimming has always been an influential part of my life. Since I was 4 years old, I have been in the water, loving every minute in the pool. I was first introduced to swimming as a sport through summer league but did not think of it as a passion right away. . As I entered 7th grade at a new school, I had hopes of making the basketball team. With those hopes shattered, I joined the swim team as a back-up plan. Middle school was when I really started to be invested in swimming.
As I entered high school, I began to realize the potential I had in swimming. In ninth grade, I decided to drop all other sports and fully commit to swimming. Swimming year-round, I started to view it as a sport I could pursue in college. I have learned so much through swimming; I have learned the importance of a team and the camaraderie a team brings to yourself as an athlete. I have also learned the importance of persistence. With swimming being a very different sport from others, I have learned the importance of sticking with a sport and constantly learning what to fix to be better. In swimming, a week off means a reset, so I have learned that loyalty, tenacity, and persistence are very important in not only swimming but in life in general.
