My name is Joshua Grover and I am 17 years old, approximately 5'10", and 175 pounds. I swim for the Carrollton Bluefins, located in Carrollton, Georgia. It is a small team, and I am the oldest by 2 years, and unfortunately the next fastest swimmer on the team is a 13 year old girl. So I am definitely looking for a college that I can go and be an underdog, and work my way up. I believe that this will be the best way for me to become the best swimmer that I can become. In my swimming career I have accomplished many things. At a young age I began making my mark in the record books and obtaining multiple GRPA state titles. At age 8 I made my first 14 & under state time. Every year after that, I made state times and continued to perform excellently for my team at all of my high end meets including Senior State, Age Group and Senior Sectionals. I made my first Senior Sectionals cut at age 14. I have also been ranked in the top 10 for many of my swims under GA Swimming. I know I can offer many great qualities to a great college. My years as a team leader and captain would definitely benefit the entire team by adding my leadership to your program. I believe my constant improvement would lead me to be a great swimmer not only now, but also for the future. I feel this would be an essential asset to any team. I also work hard and diligently. My hard work is not only shown in practice and in the pool, but also in the classroom. I have never gotten a "B" in any of my classes. I take the highest level classes that my school offers. I am very competitive which helps me to excel in the pool and in the classroom. I think it gives me an edge over everyone else because I feel if I don't do my best and become the best, then I am not finished. I will work until I am the best. It is my dream to swim for a great college with an excellent academic and athletic program. My desired major is to follow Pre-Med courses. My goals are to compete at the highest level possible in my
career. I need a school that will be able to coach me and help me become the best that I can be.
During my starting years of swimming, I was doing three other sports at the time. I played baseball, basketball and tennis. As I started to get more serious with swimming I had to decide to drop the sports one at a time so I could focus on swimming. My career in swimming has brought me to this point and I hope that I can find the right college for me to excel in both my academics and athletics to help me get to where I want to be in life. Thank you for spending the time to read this message from me and I hope that I have made a good enough impact on you to take me into consideration for your program.
