From the moment I got in the water for my first race, I was in love with the sport of swimming. I’ve been swimming competitively since I was nine years old in my first summer league swim meet and that love has continued to grow.
I strive to be a leader on and off the deck. In the pool I work hard and am always trying to reach the next level of the sport. For the past two summers, I have taught swim lessons to try to help younger kids find the love in swimming that I did. My time in the water has helped me develop patience, responsibility, and determination. Off the deck I have been a part of student government in middle and high school which has helped me strengthen leadership qualities like leading by example, hearing varying opinions, and stepping out of my comfort zone. I have been recognized or these skills with awards such as most distinguished student in 8th grade which is voted on by the entire staff and only two students receive that award in the class one boy and one girl. On my club team I have also received the coaches award at the age of ten which is decided on by all the coaches on the team. I was also given the positive high school athlete award in the northwest Georgia region.
At school I work hard to develop good relationships with my teachers and am involved in the classroom as much as possible. I push myself academically by taking rigorous classes that will prepare me for my future.
In college I hope to find a place where I can bring my best to the team and help the team achieve its goals while also achieving my own. I not only want to continue to develop my swimming in college, but I want to continue my personal development for a satisfying and successful life after swimming.
