In college I wish to pursue a career in broadcast meteorology by majoring in this field. I also wish to improve my swimming abilities exponentially by learning new techniques and strengthening my form under the guidance of an experienced coaching staff. One of my biggest strengths is that I am determined to achieve my very best in all challenges placed before me. An example of this determination can be seen this summer where I have joined a second swim team to ensure I can improve my speed as well as endurance and improve my form while my primary team does not have a pool of their own and is not receiving as much training time as in previous seasons. This determination can also be seen in my academic success where I have maintained a 4.0 gpa, taken extra courses for a credit advantage, and am currently ranked at the top of the class while being involved in multiple extra curricular activities including: track, soccer, 4-H, Drama Club, FCCLA, class president, and competitive swimming. Sophomore year I was nominated by my teachers and was awarded the title of the first Gold Standard Student Award given at our school. To be a Gold Standard Student you must show desirable characteristics such as leadership as well as overall team cooperation abilities, must be respectful to all other students and staff, and be a student the staff can count on to always be doing the right thing.
