Last high school season my ultimate goal was to make it to the IHSA state meet in the 50 free and I just missed my ticket by placing second at sectionals. I was very disappointed, not only because I failed to hit my goal but because I trained extremely hard for it and I knew I was at the state level. Rather than dwelling on what I hadn't achieved, I decided to look to the future and became really focused in on the YMCA state meet to drop time, which was only a month away. During that month I went to track practice after school, and then swimming at the Y in the evening. I made sure to fine tune the technique in my stroke, maximize my speed, and master my start and turn. When the meet came I was excited to see what I could do and I just wanted to have fun with it. I ended up swimming a 21.50, over a half a second faster than my sectionals time. Hard word and dedication have bountiful rewards.
I'm looking for a team that can push me to be my best and keep my academics a priority. I love the family feel of a team where we all treat each other like brothers. I'd love to be a part of a team like this and help push it to new heights. My coaches all tell me I'm a leader, a good role model, and extremely coachable. I believe these qualities, along with my skill level, hard work and dedication, would make me a great asset to a competitive collegiate team.
