Personal Statement
The story of my academics, athletics, and character are all closely tied together.
When I was young, maybe 6 or 7 I had an experience at a public pool where I almost drowned, within the next week my mom had enrolled me in swim lessons at the public pool, within a few lessons I actually found I was rather good at swimming. By the end of the year, and before the next season began I had joined the YMCA swim team and I worked hard, starting at the lowest level and accelerating through each.
At first, natural talent carried me through my swim career, but quickly I realized that determination and a real dedication to my strokes and events was the only real way to improve myself in a lasting way.
