I am a student athlete. The 2020 Covid-19 pandemic solidified my love of balancing academics and competitive swimming. I have been swimming since I was 6 months old. I always loved the swim classes that I was enrolled in year round. I started competing in swimming when I was 9 years old. In addition to swimming, I have played basketball soccer and baseball. I run and weightlift to keep in shape, I grew up attending church and participating in Sunday School. As a pre-teen I started participating in our church's youth group. It was during one of the programs help for our youth group that I learned about different methods about coping though hard times and disappointments. Meditation is a technique that interested me and proved to be useful during the pandemic.
I have always maintained my grades and GPA, loved extracurricular activities and desired to excel in swimming. I did not know how the year 2020 was going to impact my life, but meditation helped me to keep on track and stay focused. I had to maintain my grades and stay in shape on my own. I used my natural work ethic to stay on task with my life. I do not know what the future holds for me. I do know that I plan to continue to attend school and swim at the college level.
