I have been swimming competitively at the club level since I was six years old. In addition to club swimming, I have competed in middle school and my high school varsity swim team. I absolutely love the sport of swimming, being in the water, competing with my friends and teammates. I felt that I grew as a competitor and as an individual the most after my freshman year.
During my first of year in high school several of my teammates and the swimmers from our conference were faster than I was and I noticed a large difference between middle school and high school based on the competition. I then realized during this period what it took to compete at the high school level and worked even harder to improve as a competitive swimmer.
After putting in the time in practice and during the off season I dropped three minutes from my time and earned an 8th place finish out of twenty other swimmers in the 500 free at the Northern Lake Conference meet at the end of my sophomore year. I also earned divisional cuts at the club level in the 200 free, 500 free and 1650 free during the same year. By the end of my sophomore year I was honored by my teammates who voted me the most improved swimmer for the 2020 season and I earned my varsity letter.
My goals as a student athlete in high school are to achieve the best grades possible, grow as an individual, competitor and as a leader for my team. I also want to qualify, compete and ultimately win a state championship at the state meet my junior and senior seasons.
My goals for college are to earn a business management degree and someday run my own business. It is my hope that if given the opportunity to swim at the college level I can help the team win a championship and qualify for nationals in my event, or in a relay. I believe that achieving these goals will help me grow as not only a competitor, but allow me to learn the necessary skills and tools to achieve my goals in the future.
