The discipline it takes to commit to swimming and to push through tough workouts improved my commitment and determination for excellence as a student. Academics and swimming are connected for me, because I have to have the focus, determination and faith to know that hurdles can be overcome. I also know that dedication and determination are they keys to my success. With dyslexia, and my will to succeed, discipline and hard work have always helped me to to excel in classes. When faced with a demanding assignment, I have the discipline from countless pool practices to help me through. And, when I’m faced with a challenge at a meet, I stand on with the determined focus of a student that has risen above every challenge presented. I would like to be a student athlete on the collegiate level to connect with a new swimming family, and to use my talents in the pool to help a swim team compete. I am still maturing mentally, physically and emotionally, and I’m fighting to be better, faster and stronger. My amazing family and my opportunities in swimming have shaped me into the person I am today. I have a foundation of faith, hope and confidence that will help be the man, swimmer and scholar that I strive to become.
