Owen Ghattas '26 Recruiting Profile

My name is Owen Ghattas. I am a 16 year old Junior participating in the IB program at North Hagerstown High School. I have been a swimmer with the Hagerstown Gators YMCA swim team for the past 7 years, and a swimmer at Saint Maria Goretti for the past 2 years. Unfortunately, my old High School (St. Maria Goretti) closed, which means that I no longer have a High School team to swim for. While it's been a challenge to juggle 2 different teams in the same season, I've truly loved swimming for Goretti and the opportunities it gave me. I ended up being the only swimmer in Goretti history to participate in both the Metro Championship meet as well as the National Catholic High School Championships. In fact, if I were given the opportunity to swim for Goretti for all 4 years, I would have been in the position to break several of the High School swim records (i.e., the record 50 free time was 23.38 and I swam it in 23.49 this year). That being said, I am looking forward to committing to one team for the remainder of my High School career and seeing what I am capable of accomplishing in the next 2 years with the HAGY Gators. It's my goal to be a student-athlete in college in 2026 and succeed both in the classroom and in the pool!
