Ever since I was 4 years old I have been in the water, taking swimming lessons to developing into the competitive swimmer that I am today. I started competing when I was 9 with a recreational team where I learned technique and the strokes I have needed to be successful in my athletic journey. During COVID (Fall of 2020) I joined a USA Swim club team, Kingfish Medfield (Massachusetts) to keep up my swimming career. After transitioning to Kingfish I increased my strength, developed better form and increased my stamina. I have been training year round with Kingfish since joining the team 4 years ago. This coming season I will be swimming with the Senior group, the highest group on the club team. I hope to improve my times in the 100 Fly and 200 IM. I have also attended Fitter and Faster swim training weekends focusing on turns and starts and Butterfly and Breaststroke.
I have been swimming for my high school team, both Freshman and Sophomore years. During my freshman year we won the Tri-Valley League championships and I personally made it to sectionals and D4 States for the 100 Fly with the time I achieved that season. During my sophomore year the team was second in the league and I again made it to sectionals and D4 States for the 100 Fly and 200 IM. At the D4 State meet I was also part of the 200 Medley Relay team where I swam the 50 Fly leg - we placed 8th. I was awarded the Joshua Taylor Sportsmanship Award at the end of my sophomore season. I am a team leader encouraging my fellow teammates to get into the pool even if we are all tired. I am always cheering on my teammates at the end of the lanes and supporting them at the end of the race even if the race went poorly. The high school season is special because the camaraderie of the team is amazing.
Academically I am challenging myself with mostly honors classes in addition to AP science courses. I currently plan to pursue STEM in college. I am currently working as a lifeguard at the Kingsbury Club.
During the Spring of my freshman and sophomore year I also ran track, focusing on the 110m and 400m hurdles. At the end of each season my coaches recognized my hard work and dedication and rewarded me with inclusion on the varsity team. As part of the track team I consistently attended practices, supported my teammates during races and left the track cleaner than it was before.
I want to attend a college where I can excel academically and in the pool.
