It is hard work and dedication, which will eventually prevail against luck and circumstance, I believe my swimming career to this point truly embodies this philosophy. Since my freshmen year in high school when I discovered and fell in love with the sport of swimming. I did not allow our school's lower-quality swim program to dictate my circumstances like so many before have. I took matters into my own hands making up for my training by practicing at the gym pool on weekends or on days where I was not satisfied with my practice. With this determination to push myself more toward the direction I wanted to be in, I was able to improve my times and to gain a competitive edge against competitors in higher quality swim programs and even those who were fortunate enough to swim year-round in club teams. Including this what sets me apart is I have reason to believe my potential has barely been scratched and with college-level training that would contrast my prior training, I am sure I would improve drastically and rapidly. And having swum my last high school race with much improvement, I know I have much more potential left in me and I am willing to bring it along with my unrelenting work ethic to where I receive the opportunity.
