My name is Morgan Gillard, class 2023, and I have a dream to swim in college.
I started out my athletic career as a runner, but being from Minnesota I wanted to continue to keep my fitness up during the winter months, being convinced by one of my teammates on the cross country team, I decided to join the swim team at my school; I quickly fell in love. Two highschool seasons later I joined a club team for the first time so I could swim year round. My goal is to sharpen my skills and improve my times, and I'm loving every second of it!
I am a relatively new swimmer, but that doesn’t deter me from working even harder to improve every chance I get. Swimming is one of my passions, I love training and I love to compete. The daily swim is the number one thing I look forward to every day. I am a very goal oriented person, inside and outside of the pool.
During my time swimming highschool I lettered both years I swam. My freshman year I took first place at the JV champs meet in the 50 and the 100 Freestyle. My sophomore year I was honored to achieve all conference in the 50 and 100 Freestyle. This year I hope to qualify for State and finish in the top 8 in my section for the 50 and 100 Freestyle!
Just because swimming is one of my passions does not mean I am not passionate about other things. I approach my academics with the same level of dedication and commitment as I do with my swimming. I hope to major in Exercise science or Kinesiology or be accepted into a Pre-physical therapy program. I hope to someday achieve my dream of being a Physical Therapist after college. Helping others compels me to continue to do well in school and in life.
