Lauren Galvin '21 Recruiting Profile

One of the biggest compliments I’ve received from coaches is that I play bigger then I am.  While I’m not the tallest player on my high school or club team, I am quick and dynamic, and have been a 6-rotation outside hitter for the past 3 years, on both teams.  Being a part of one of the most competitive volleyball clubs in the nation, I’m very proud to have earned my positions through dedication, drive, and never giving up, and I continuously strive to be challenged to be the best player and person I can be for my team, my coaches, and for myself.  There is so much more to volleyball then “bump, set, spike”.  Leadership, relationship building, competitive drive, and teamwork are all crucial elements to being successful on the court.  Success is certainly defined as winning, but to me success is also putting everything you have out there and playing the best you can – win or lose.  Of course, I want to and strive to win – that’s my competitive nature – but I also respect team effort and attitude when we’ve put it all on the line, no matter the outcome. 

I feel the same about my academics, as I do volleyball.  I strive to challenge myself to be the best student I can be, taking honors and college courses and am continuously working to achieve the highest grades I can. I’m looking for a college that will foster both my academic and athletic goals, support and challenge me to continue to learn, excel, and succeed on the court and in life.
