My passion for swimming began on my first competitive swim team at the age of 5. I enjoyed the sense of achievement while I progressed in the sport and was driven to get better with every race. I joined my first club team at the age of 9 and that continued to feed my passion. The coaching staff taught me new swim techniques, how to care for my body to thrive in the pool, and the discipline needed to be an exceptional athlete. Perhaps most importantly, I learned how to be a strong contributor to a team.
I am looking for a similar coaching and team fit on a college team. I will thrive on a team that supports each other and with coaches that push me to new levels. I look forward to bringing my strengths to a team: leadership, discipline, strong work ethic, faith and intellect. It is also important to me to excel academically in college and prepare for my future career as a meteorologist.
My high school career has prepared me to be a strong contributor to a college swim team and academic institution. I have a GPA above 4.0 with a challenging course load, have received multiple awards for my work with the Marquette High School journalism program, and have been able to balance two sports (swimming and tennis) with my academic rigor. I swim with Parkway Swim Club year-round. My team leadership skills were highlighted when I was nominated to be the Parkway Swim Club student-athlete representative for LSC and was then voted to be one of three athlete representatives from Ozark LSC to communicate with the Central Zone. I have also balanced several extracurricular activities with my academic and athletic commitments, including Digital Media, German Club, a job as a lifeguard, and the Catholic Church.
My passions outside of the pool include weather, politics, German language and culture, piano, journalism, and Catholicism.
I'm not done growing as an athlete, leader, and student yet. This will be a life-long journey. As I approach my junior year, I plan to hit my target swim times, maintain >4.0 GPA, and join the National Honor Society, while maintaining my other extracurricular activities. I plan to be Team Captain for the Marquette High School swim team my Senior year.
I hope to bring my strengths to your college team and continue my journey of growing as a student, athlete and person with the coaching staff and my teammates. I appreciate your consideration.
