I am what one could refer to as a "water kid." I love everything about the water, from swimming competitively to surfing to being an ocean and pool lifeguard to participating in lifeguarding competitions to teaching kids and adults how to swim and surf. Sharing my love and knowledge of swimming, ocean safety, and surfing is a core part of who I am.
I have been swimming with the New Jersey Race Club’s Senior Premier group since the beginning of my sophomore year. Unfortunately, COVID-19 saw our team go from eight swim practices a week consisting of fifteen hours of swim training and four days of intense dry-land sessions to literally no pool time and virtual dry-land practices. Furthermore, there were strict state regulations and multiple COVID-positive teammates that made for incredible inconsistency in training and no racing. Between those factors as well as a year spent in a completely remote academic learning environment, I made the difficult decision to transfer schools and repeat my junior year. I am excitedly looking forward to immersing myself in steady training and swim meets.
I am not afraid of hard work, and I love both the fierce competition and camaraderie in the pool as my teammates and I push each other to train harder and be the best versions of ourselves day in and day out.
