I have been swimming competitively for nine years, starting at age 8. I've always been good at backstroke and freestyle. In my current school's record board I'm in the top 10 of all time for 100-yard backstroke. I'm also highly ranked in the 100-yard freestyle. While part of the Scarlet Aquatics national team, I achieved gold times in the 100-yard freestyle and backstroke and was able to participate in the Junior Olympics in July of 2017. Moving on to academics, I didn't enter high school with the best grades. My freshman year was bumpy, to say the least, starting me off poorly. After moving to East Brunswick and attending East Brunswick High School, I realized that I needed to get my act together or suffer the consequences. Exerting more focus on my academics, my grade trend went upward, so much so that my Junior year GPA was a 3.6. Along with these accomplishments, I spent considerable time studying for standardized tests. I scored a 30 on the ACT, placing me in the 94th percentile, and a 10 on my ACT writing, placing me in the 99th percentile. I definitely excel in humanities, evident by my 35 and 33 in the English and Reading sections of the ACT respectively. I'm hoping to major in Political Science in college. I've always adored the subject, but joining Model United Nations and seeing it in action truly vindicated my love for it. Regardless of all my other extracurriculars, swimming has always grounded me. It's been with me as I grew up, and I've relied on it more than I'd like to remember. Doing it in college would be incredible, and is an experience I wouldn't want to miss.
