It is an understatement to say that swimming shaped my life and who I am. From the fear of water that I overcame at 5 years old, to the pain I’ve pushed through in countless practices and the triumph of getting a best time, swimming has given me the courage to challenge myself and push beyond my comfort zone in every area of my life. Swimming has been the tool and friend that has sharpened not only my body, but also my mind. Throughout my 8 years of competitive swimming, I’ve constantly strived to improve and make myself as dominant of a swimmer as possible. The road hasn’t been smooth; I’ve faced many setbacks, including plateaus, injuries, and sicknesses that have taken me out of the pool for weeks at a time. But in the end, the hard work and persistence has paid off: I’ve made many improvements to my stroke and strength in recent times that has made me the swimmer I am today. 

Not only am I competitive in the pool, but also competitive academically. I’ve competed and succeeded in many math and physics competitions, all of which took incredible amounts of hard work and perseverance. I look for a highly competitive school in both athletics and academics with a rigorous STEM curriculum and an environment that is conducive to my growth as a scholar and athlete. I believe that my work-ethic and my drive to challenge and improve myself will make me an immediate contributor to your program.
