I have been swimming for ten years on a Pennsylvania YMCA team, and three years on my high school team, the Chambersburg Trojans. In my ten years of swimming, I have qualified for YMCA States, YMCA districts, Junior Olympics, PIAA Mid-Penns and Districts, and YOTAs. My short term goal for high school is to make YMCA nationals along with High School States. I plan to focus on business, economics, and literature, while still swimming competitively throughout college. Time management has been a learning experience since entering high school, and the last few years really put pressure on me to maximize any and all free time I am given. I now carry a junior year 3.9 unweighted 4.7 weighted GPA with honors, AP, and IB courses. I have become confident that I can be successful as a college student-athlete.
A team is like a family, we support and push each other to become better, not only as athletes or students but as people in general. When swimming for a close-knit group, and for a coach that supports us, swimming stops being just about me, but about pushing myself to be a valuable asset to my teammates and coach. I want to swim for a coach who is as enthusiastic as I am. The type of coach whose excitement is contagious, and drives me to push myself further than I could on my own. “If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you. Swim harder.”
I would also like to note that I have recently moved from Pennsylvania to North Dakota and will be attending Shanley High School in Fargo.
