I have been swimming on a team since I was nine years old. The reason I have chosen swimming over other sports is that I love the purity of chasing a time. My effort, my training and my coachability are what will get me to my goals. I’m looking for a challenge in university and life and can’t wait to get started.
I took a break last season for medical reasons and to recover from surgery. Over that time, I’ve stepped up my dryland game, gained 35 pounds of muscle and finally figured out my nutritional needs. I’m looking forward to this season and how I can grow as a swimmer and as a person in college.
As a multi-sport athlete, I have played many other sports over the years, including soccer, skiing, basketball, and hockey. I continue to play forward in hockey, but I can only play at the recreational level due to my swimming commitments. I am a sailor and sailing coach during the summers.
In Canada, we do not have high school swim teams and I have been on the same team for eight years, the Halifax Trojans Aquatic club.
