Hello, My name is Erik Menchhofer and this is why I think you should recruit me. First, my schoolwork has been going really well for me this year. My freshman year was a bit of figuring out between my high school learning and keeping up my grades versus how to balance swimming for the school and swimming on my club team. I did get better in my sophomore year, but junior year by far is going strong.
My greatest strength in the pool is my perseverance. I never give up on a hard practice or in a meet. Whether it is early in the morning before school or after a hard day of school, my focus when I am in the pool is to my coach and my practice. Within my meets, if I should have a bad swim I learned that there is always the next swim and keep moving forward to accomplish that something greater.
My other strength is my goal setting. Whether I write them down or keep them in my head, I always have goals set for myself and my team, even as small as going to practice every day, and as big as getting an Olympic trial cut. My dedication to those personal goals is HUGE. I always want to see myself improve. I will try anything new my coaches give me to try to improve myself so that I can help me as well as my teammates.
One last thing about me is that I truly love the sport. I can’t think of being anywhere else.
