I would love to be a significant part of the college swim team that is right for me.
I have always loved to overcome my challenges, and always searched for the next way to take my experiences to a higher level.
For instance, I taught myself to swim as a young boy, made varsity swimming my freshman year, and states my sophomore year.
My innate desire to push my own limits, and see how far I can rise up has always driven me. During my freshman year (in the middle of the pandemic) I managed to earn my Black Belt in Karate, while at the same time making the varsity team for St. Francis Swimming. All of this happened while I maintained my place as the top 8% of my class.
During my sophomore year, I was elected president of my class, a position that I maintained during my junior year. This allowed me to actively contribute to my school, just as I had pledged at the beginning of my highschool career. I also made it to states my sophomore year, all the while improving my class rank to the top 5%.
Early in my summer season, I came down with COVID. As a consequence, my times plateaued, and I had an unsatisfying season. After sectionals, I chose to rise up, and work out nearly every day of my off-season.
I built considerable amounts of muscle, and also grew. My wingspan reached 6’6 and my height is now 6’1.
Due to these improvements, I was able to start dropping time early this year, because of all the work I put in during my break.
Finally, my academics and culture also show how far I can take myself to achieve my goals. My GPA, as can be seen in the rest of my profile, and statement, has been over a 4.3 for the entirety of my academic career. To achieve this GPA, I worked through congenital hearing loss, and sacrificed great amounts of time. Moreover, I became fluent in two languages, in spite of my hearing impairment. This took concrete efforts from me, even as a young child, to smooth out my vocabulary in both English and Italian. I am also taking AP French, and am perfecting my skills in this third language. Cultural experiences such as these have made me a better person, capable of more hard work, and have given me a deeper knowledge of my potential, which I strive to reach every day.
