Swimming on a team at the collegiate level has always been a goal for me. In high school I have been able to balance between athletics and academics. Because I have an analytical mind, when there is a challenge I like to think through the situation to find the best solution. This has helped me both improve my swimming and has guided me towards potential majors to study in college: engineering, math, or chemistry. Being analytic and my desire to help younger swimmers become successful has led me to volunteering with the beginning swimmers on the YMCA team for the last 3 years. I am most skilled at helping them with their stroke technique. I have received both the Tom Dowd Sportsmanship Award and the National Presidential's Volunteer Service Gold Award. At age 5 I started swimming on my first team, and now swim on three different teams: West Chester Area YMCA, Great Valley High School in Malvern, and Chester Valley Golf Club Swim Team. The YMCA has lead me to the PA State YMCA championships twice in high school and the Mid-Atlantic Long-Course Eastern Zones and with the Great Valley team I have gone to the Southeastern PA districts.
Optimally, I am seeking a college within the multi-hour driving distance from the Philadelphia area. I am open to different types of schools. My assets include being a hard worker, being coach-able, and the ability to motivate other teammates. My present competitive YMCA team has been my "family" and I am looking to bond in another team environment. My height is 5' 10" and my weight is 175 lb. My best events are the 400 IM, 200 IM, and the 200 fly. My times are 400 IM - 4:22.81, the 200 IM- 2:03.97 and the 200 fly- 2:04.86. Of course, I would like to improve not only in the next 2 years of high school, but at the collegiate level too. If possible I would like to swim beginning freshmen year to the highest competition level possible.
