My name is Matt Edwards I go to Brookland Cayce high school and I am a senior. This year was a great year for my swimming. I’m a senior on the high school team And also the team captain for our 3A division. I also am in my last year of swimming with Brookland cayce. I have got all region in 4 events. It was an honor to be the team captain because my teammates look up to me and I do everything in my power to think of them first. It was my 5th year swimming On the team this past senior and it was also my final swimming season with my HS.
I am also a part of Carolina Aquatics year round swim team. I’ve been on the team for about a year now. It’s such an amazing team and they have the most caring coach’s that I have ever had. 3 years ago I decided to leave my old team and join CA. I use to swim on palmetto aquatics but I quit and took a break. I took a break because I was in a serious car accident and i had trouble with my leg. I was out of the water for a year then did high school Swim. Then I decided to join CA because giving up is never the answer. I was so glad to hit the water again and do what I love.
The summer of 2019 I had the honor to help out and coach for a summer league team, called quail hollow. It was an amazing time to help little kids enjoy swimming just like I did. I grew up on the team and started when I was 6 years old. It was crazy how I got asked to be a coach after 11 years Of being on the team. The year I was a coach we were undefeated and also got the sportsmanship award. it was an honor to bring back the title after 2 years of not having it.
In the classroom and out of the classroom i am the same person. I am proud to say that I am the 2020-2021 student body secretary and I was voted in by The school. I’ve been on student council since I was a freshman. to be on it you have to run and put posters up for your classmates to see and your fellow classmates vote to see who should be on it.
I have made many accomplishments like being all region the very first year I swam for high school league which was in 8th grade. I hope to make many more accomplishments with this program and also make an impression on you all. I would love to have phone conversations about your university and college and would love to have the opportunity to swim for one of y’all. Thanks!
