Personal Statement

I am disciplined and persevere through difficulty. I previously attended a very small private school in MD, which had a higher grading scale than in the public schools, meaning it was more challenging.

In June 2022 I moved to Columbia, SC and attended Irmo High School my senior year, a very large public high school I was the Senior Captain on the IHS Swim Team and earned a varsity letter.

On May 31, 2023, I graduated with honors from Irmo High School.

While in high school I also swam on the Columbia YMCA Mudcats Swim Team. I love swimming with a swim team, but I also love the individual competition and doing well at swim meets. It is rewarding to set goals, attain them and then have to set new goals.

I transferred to Midlands Technical College in SC Spring 2024 and will be majoring in Criminal Justice Technology because I would like to pursue a career in law enforcement. Also, I am a member of U.S. Masters Swimming and have competed.at their swim meets. I swam at the US Masters Swimming National Championship in Indianapolis in June 2024. In the fall 2024 I will be transferring to Columbia College and will be joining the men’s swim team.

Irmo High School finished 7th out of 33 schools at the 2022 SCHSL Class 4A State Championship on Friday, October 7, 2022, Coach Sommers appointed Stefan as Senior Captain of the Irmo High School Swim Team after demonstrating leadership skills.
