Unlike most, I have not been swimming my whole life. My story begins at a small hotel pool; that's where I learned to swim because I don't have a pool of my own. Every vacation, my parents had to book a hotel with a pool so I could swim. I had always wanted to join a swim team, but I never had the opportunity until my freshman year. When I found out my school offered swimming, I was ecstatic. I showed up the first day with beach swim trunks, Walmart goggles, and no cap. The next thing I knew, I was on the varsity team. Fast forward a year, and my relay team won state gold.
