My name is Jordan Buchanan, I am six foot and 150 pounds. I was born with a primary immunodeficiency, hearing loss, and asthma, but those are not what defines me, I am a dedicated student athlete and I have been swimming since the age of five. I have played other sports, such as baseball and basketball, but ultimately they were not a match for me. Other sports were fun and gave me even more pride and insight in the concepts and mentality it takes in competing in teams sports, however, my heart and passion was not in them, but with swim it was. Swimming has always been the place I turn to get away from all the stress and to feel better. Swimming drove my competitive nature and having achieved success with swimming, I also found that it also translates into my scholarly activities. I have become a member of both the National Junior Honor Society and National Honor Society. In regard to swimming, I lettered my freshman year and made all-district. In my sophomore year, I was both all-district, all-region, and state alternate. Additionally, I have also achieved three bronze medals in the 200 meter-IM and 200 meter medley-relay. Furthermore, I am not only a student-athlete, I am an officer in my high-school's Future Farmers of America (FFA) and a lifeguard for the local YMCA. This sport taught me to be a hard worker and a helpful teammate; FFA has taught me to be someone who is community involved and always willing to take steps into uncomfortable situations, while others would stray from those incidents. My goals for high school have always been to be the best student I can be, which is shown in my 4.5 GPA and advanced placement enrollment; a dedicated swimmer and teammate, helping my team strive to be their best; a leader in FFA; and in my community as a lifeguard.
