My name is Kameron Villafana and I am an 11th grade student athlete who swims for Southwestern Aquatics Team.
I was introduced to organized swimming when I joined a summer league team in 2009. I swam as a way to pass the long hot summer days while having fun with my friends. At that time, I was focused on earning a black belt in martial arts. However, after earning my black belt, I decided to shift my focus to swimming once my passion for the sport could no longer be ignored. I then joined my first club team, First Colony Swim Team. After some time of searching for the right club, I attended a practice for Southwestern Aquatics Team (SWAT). It was the most intense training I had ever been through, and I’ve been with SWAT ever since. The success I've had in my recent years of swimming has only increased my appetite to achieve higher levels of success, which I intend to do on the collegiate level.
Although I enjoy swimming, my academic career is most important to me. Specifically, my interest for the natural sciences is a motivation to do well in school, as reflected by my GPA. I intend on pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, then moving onto grad school to earn a Master of Science Degree.
