I started swimming the summer before my 9th grade year which is later than most, but I immediately fell in love with the sport. After my first practice, I became determined to be the best swimmer I can possibly be. In the two years since I began swimming, I’ve gotten my times on par or better than the swimmers of my region. I qualified for the regional swim meet both years, and in my sophomore year, I made it to finals for the 200 IM and my team’s freestyle relay. I have found that my strong suits are fly, freestyle, and IM.
I became a certified swim instructor and lifeguard in 2022. Using these skills, I wrote sets, made relays and coached my fellow swimmers. By showing this initiative, I was named an MVP at the end of my sophomore year and Team Captain for my junior year.
I believe that my perseverance and continued study of the sport will make me an asset to any college team. I enjoy the team aspect of the sport, but I also love competing against myself. I attack each swim as a chance to improve. I know if given the right opportunity and coaching I can excel even more.
