Corbin Lawes '24 Recruiting Profile

Hello! My name is Corbin Lawes and I love being in the water. I've always had a passion for swimming. It's the one sport I've felt really connected to. I got started kind of late with swimming lessons at the age of 9 but quickly moved into competitive swimming by the age of 10. Swimming is a huge part of my life. My closest friends are my teammates and my extended family is the swim parents/grandparents that I see every day at practice.

One of the best things about swimming is that it is both an individual sport and a team sport. You can't hide behind others, but you also can't achieve success alone. Your teammates drive you to be better and you do the same for them. While I always strive to outswim others in the pool, the true competitor that I'm always looking to beat is the clock. 

I set measurable but challenging goals for myself in both my swimming and my academics. As a Freshman in Highschool, I've established both short-term goals and long-term goals. My long-term goal is to swim competitively in college and obtain a degree in either Zoology or Exotic Animal Training & Management.
