Noah Popp '25 Recruiting Profile

Growing up in a bilingual and bicultural family immersed in one of the nation's biggest and most diverse school districts has influenced and shaped who I am as a person. I am a swimmer, but I am also an accomplished musician and a tri-lingual International Baccalaureate candidate with a keen eye for justice and critical thinking. I chose to be an IB candidate as a way to improve my writing and research skills in preparation for the rigors of college classes and programs in the areas of science and engineering.

I grew up in the pool since before I could walk, but I was relatively late to competition and began the competitive track at Arlington Aquatic Club at age 12. AAC is an extremely competitive club with many high-level D1 swimmers and a current Olympic champion, and that atmosphere has shaped my own competitive spirit and high expectations for myself. 

I have also been fortunate enough to be part of a great swim team at Annandale High School, where our most valued principle is teamwork. At AHS, I received the honor of being named Most Valuable Player as a junior. Going to the Virginia High School League State Championship meet as a junior in 100 backstroke and three school record-setting relays has been the highlight of my swimming career so far.

For my college career, I am looking for a program that will be a good academic, social, and athletic fit for me. I believe that, as a member of your swim team, my swimming talent, character, work ethic and leadership skills will have an immediate positive effect on your college team.
