Luke Aslaksen '23 Recruiting Profile

The challenges presented by the pandemic over the past year have only solidified my passion for swimming and competing, and have highlighted the important role that my teammates and coaches play in my life.  At the beginning of the pandemic when pools were closed and my coaches held daily dryland training, I did not miss a session.  I learned to re-focus my training on building my strength, flexibility and endurance out of the water.  I became a leader in the dryland video sessions, encouraging my teammates to get better and challenging my coaches to push us harder.   

When my team was able to return to the pool, I found that my commitment, focus, drive and passion for swimming were stronger than ever.  When I wake up at 4:00 a.m. for practice I know I have an opportunity get better and faster and that makes the early mornings worth it.  I have always loved swimming and I know that I not only have the talent to compete at the college-level, but I also have the determination, character and drive to make an immediate impact on a college swimming program.
