Isaak Fowkes '24 Recruiting Profile

I began to swim at a young age and immediately fell in love with the sport. Summer swimming was just the beginning as I soon found myself wanting to swim all throughout the year. As I started swimming for a year-round team during my 6th-grade year, I began to see the sport in a whole new light. Not only was it an opportunity to be with friends and race, but it was also a way to test my limits. I began training with the Nations Capital Swim Club (NCAP) during my freshmen year of high school. Most recently, I began training with coach Pete Morgan, former U.S. National Team coach. With Pete, I have bettered myself as an athlete and a person, learning valuable life lessons that will help me not only with my swim goals but throughout my entire life.

Most importantly, my top priority is focusing on academics. These past two years I have enrolled in multiple AP courses, currently maintaining a 4.3 GPA. Alongside academics, I have also studied piano for the past 9 years. Studying piano has helped me learn how to practice better in the water, as repetition is key to mastering a piece, just as repetition and consistency are key to mastering a race.

I believe that I bring to the table a unique set of skills both in and out of the water that makes me a great candidate for any college swim team. I have achieved my goals through hard work and perseverance, and I am continuing to push forward in hopes of becoming a collegiate-level athlete.
